Rainbow Scrap Challenge for February and More! from The Modern Diary

My daughter got me this book for Christmas after I watched a documentary on an octopus.  The book was good and Hazel liked the cover so I had to teach her the sign for octopus and show her the one from the documentary.

I finished up R Trail!  And took a photo of the Attic Stars mystery...all wrinkled already!

Read and listened to "The Storyteller." And read and skim read the PPMS book.
The UFO number for this month was 7.  So I am adding another row onto my Wild and Goosey!  Honk honk!
The color for Febrary is ...

Growing the Rhododendron Trail Quilt! from The Modern Diary

I finally tied this eye spy quilt (and another one, no picture) after a long time of it hanging out waiting.

I have been growing R Trail by a row or two each day.  I am now on the other half row three!  So three giant rows to go, then on to borders.  If you are doing this beast, how is it coming along?

I won this beautiful book from a booktuber (MsReadsAlot) and I happily passed on my cheap paperback copy on to Jay.  This one is so fancy!  It has beautiful full color pictures inside too.  Years ago ...

Making Progress! from The Modern Diary

I  got my Ruby Jubilee all cut and sewn (two blocks not pictured, but they are all done).  Loving all the reds!
Barb got her first two blocks done too!  She is doing green.
Finished this book today.  It was alright.  Sending it on to my mom.
Still reading this one with my book club.  Much better than "The Iliad" in my opionion!
I did the simple little clue for Kathleen Tracy's Valentine mystery today.

I finally started assembling R Trail tonight.  I cannot tell you how tricky this one is for me.  I started out doing both ends ...

Books and Progress on Two Mystery Quilts from The Modern Diary

My advent book box finally arrived.  I decided to go ahead and read one story and open one gift a day.  So far I have opened these:
Day two was sheer-ish drapes with book quotes on them.  I did not take a picture apparently.  So far story two was the best.  I have not read today's yet.
I decided to do the booktube spin publicly this time.  Here are my twenty books for all the pulls this year (or at least the start list...as books get read they will get replaced).  They pulled two numbers and I got ...

Mystery Progress and the Start of the Rainbow Scrap Challenge! from The Modern Diary

I started my Rainbow Scrap Challenge for 2022!  I am doing Bonnie Hunter's Log Cabin Love in Quiltmaker but took out the HST in the center and put in a square.  I forgot how crazy these can be to sew.  I remember Bonnie's tip that you should always sew over two seams when you add a log.  I did a little unsewing and decided next month I will be labeling them in order of how they go...I do not like that the magazine labeled two with each letter so you have to figure out which color goes ...

Progress on Three Mysteries and My Favorite Books of the Year! from The Modern Diary

New Year's Eve (New Year's Day in New Zealand where Debi from mysteryquiltsanonymous.com lives) Barb and I started sewing around 2 PM my time.  Hazel was here and napping so I managed to get through clue one before she woke up.  Clue two was a SLOG since Hazel wanted to be near me (Bumpa had the day off and tried to entertain but she is used to me being with her and wanted to see what was happening in the room next to her) and we had to make fourteen blocks total for the clue!

After Hazel ...

Ups and Downs is a Flimsy! from The Modern Diary

I have about a third of the blocks left for clue six of R Trail.  Making progress and on track for the next clue Friday.  Hoping it is not the reveal as we have a lot left to go!
I purposely made this quilt my #12 UFO since that was the first pull in the American Patchwork and Quilting UFO draw.  I decided to copy Bonnie's border on her Scrappy Mountain Majesties instead of a plain border or more mountains around the outside.  I would have loved the mountains, but I would have had to make another whole set ...

Attic Stars, Ruby Jubilee and Favorite Books of 2021! from The Modern Diary

I decided that when R Trail is over I will start Ruby Jubilee from Quiltmaker.  It is a mystery of sorts with blocks from Bonnie Hunter, but designed by someone else.  I have always wanted a red and white quilt.  I picked up Kona Cotton white at the door of JoAnn's.  I got a smoking deal too so that was nice.  I really should have just gone scrappy with what I have, but I mostly seem to have cream lights left and so...For Christmas Kathy got me a bunch of half yards of red for this quilt and ...

Merry Mayhem Mystery Prep and More! from The Modern Diary

Hannah (and Jeremy) loved the Pine Tree Point RSC quilt they got for Christmas.  Hannah gave me some fun stuff too.  A book and a mug that were on my list--I have read all but four or five of the books on this mug so I plan to read the rest this year.  I just need to get my hands on them.
Yesterday I finished clue four of R Trail.  Lots of counting and recounting happened in order to get to this point, but done!
I completed my book challenge scratch off for the year.
Hannah and Jeremy got me ...

Three Quilt Finishes, a Clue and some Reading! from The Modern Diary

Pine Tree Point made for the Rainbow Scrap Challenge made its way to Arizona to Melissa who quilted it (and the B2 quilt) in a jif and mailed it back to me!  I love how both quilts came out.  This one is for my daughter and her hubby.  It is quilted with stars.  Linking up!

We got our little tree up last weekend and so far the cats and Hazel are leaving it be.
I managed to get clue 3 done for R Trail.  Pretty happy with it so far.  Clue four is out and I just made one test ...

Rainbow Scrap Challenge Choices for Next Year... from The Modern Diary

Still reading a lot....finished "The Obsession" by Nora Roberts.  I was never a Roberts reader but this one was really a page turner and I enjoyed it.
Got clue two of Rhododendron Trail cut out earlier this week.  Been more fatigued than usual most likely due to doing some deep cleaning of the living room and sewing room on Monday.  I had to do some, rest some, and Kathy helped but I was so glad to do it before we put the Christmas stuff up.  It needed it.
Today I got the last geese sewn for clue two.  Clue ...

RT Gets a Start! from The Modern Diary

I quilted and bound both of Hazel's doll quilts.  They have unicorn fabric on the back.

Reading a lot still.  I found this one annoying though I did want to know how it ended.  In its defense, it is a YA.  I do not plan to read book two!

We went to Hannah and Jeremy's for Thanksgiving.  I brought and made my turkey and wine gravy, and completed pumpkin pie and pumpkin roll.  My ex hubby and his sister (and her hubby) and one grown daughter (my goddaughter) and her boyfriend came too.  We played Bang! afterwards and ...

Books, Games, and Pine Tree Point is a Flimsy! from The Modern Diary

I got a surprise package the other day!  You may remember I ordered a second blind date with a book from Book_Bestie's Etsy shop.  Well, it was lost in the mail so when I contacted her she immediately sent me a new book.  Weeks later the lost one arrived.  So I get a bonus Blind date!  I DNF'ed the replacement book "Wolf Hall" as it just was not doing it for me by the half way point.  Excited to try the original second one!

I did the Booktube spin #1 and so my chosen book was Jurassic Park ...
